It seems like yesterday this young man was born, but in the blink of an eye, 17 years have passed by. Now he’s heading into his senior year… getting his driver’s license, searching for colleges, and preparing to enjoy his last year of high school.  Time really flies by.

He and I met on a warm summer morning and set our sights on Birmingham Hill, one of the parks that is a part of the larger Brandywine Battlefield Historic Site. It’s a quiet little spot among the rolling hills in the middle of Chester County. There’s an open field, dotted on the edge by a couple outbuildings of a local farm and its nearby neighbors. It’s a typical Chester County countryside view.

It’s natural for him to be in a shirt and tie….he wears that every day to school. He’s also into history, so to visit a local historical site makes the session all the more perfect. He was calm and relaxed, which made the session so enjoyable. He and his family will have these photos to remember such a significant time in his life… a time with so many opportunities and possibilities.

For 17 years, I’ve been taking photos of him. Never did I think that we’d be here at this moment so soon. This was special.
