In The Shade Of The Willow Tree | Family Portrait Photography | Valley Forge Photographer

Some may be surprised that a school campus could be a good backdrop for a family photo session.  However, there are some locations that have beautiful landscapes and buildings that are hidden gems in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the Main Line.

I had the opportunity to have a photo session with a wonderful family on one of those campuses. The mood was fun and light, even though the air was heavy with humidity.  Dressed in blues and white, we strolled around campus taking time at some distinct campus locales.

At one point in the afternoon, we headed over to their favorite spot. We made the most of the cool shade under the hanging branches of a large willow tree. It provided not only respite from the hot summer sun, but the perfect lighting for a picture perfect moment for the family.

There is something special about a willow tree.  The wispy branches and thin leaves that sway effortlessly in the slightest breeze seem to bestow a sense of peace.  No wonder this was a treasured place for the family. It was so natural for them to stand together or have some fun peeking through the branches.  Creativity abounded too when a crown was created for the princess. This certainly made for some beautiful, lighthearted snapshots during the rest of our time together.

It’s so important to take advantage of those creative moments and just go with it. Embrace it. You’ll be amazed at what happens next.
